Evolution lies at the core of Lau Hoe Yin, better known as Blink, whose illustrious career continues to unfold in bold new directions. From his early days as one half of LAPSAP alongside Xu — a duo that transformed Malaysia’s underground party scene into a cult movement blending fashion, music, and art — to pushing the boundaries of EDM as Goldfish + Blink, Blink has never stopped evolving. His constant reinvention is evident through his solo releases, each unveiling a new facet of his artistic identity.
Blink holds a long list of trailblazing accolades: he was part of the first DJ duo to represent Malaysia at Tomorrowland Belgium, became one of the first DJs to win “Best English Song” at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) with “In the House,” and has performed on the main stages of global festivals including ULTRA Music Festival, ZoukOut, and Djakarta Warehouse Project, among many others. His music has been released under internationally renowned labels such as Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, Armada, Panda Funk, Mixmash, and more. Blink also released a debut album featuring leading Malaysian artists including Noh Hujan, SonaOne, and Altimet, and notably closed Malaysia’s very first Boiler Room in 2019 as LAPSAP.
True to his belief that every adversity is an opportunity, Blink took the pandemic era as a moment to pivot creatively. Stepping away from his signature high-energy electronic sound, he delved into more intimate, singer-songwriter territory. Embracing elements of pop, R&B, and light dance music, Blink showcased a new layer of his artistry with tracks like “2gether,” “your numb3r,” “s4tellite,” and “close to 9.” These singles are not only proof of his versatility as a performer, but also his evolution as a singer, composer, and producer, continuing to chart unexplored paths with every chapter he writes.
